Healthy Spine, Healthy You 2.0

Updated: Apr 28, 2021

In the previous article, we have mentioned regarding the types of systems a human body has and how the nervous system is the "core". We will be sharing some tips today that will help us maintain and lead to a healthier life. Before we proceed, let us refresh back on our previous articles. The types of subluxation includes the Three T's. Trauma, toxins and thoughts. We will be providing tips for every category. Shall we begin?

Trauma

  1. Ensure that you do not sit or be in a static position for more than 45 minutes to an hour. Do move around as our body is designed to be mobile. Mobility is key

  2. Working at a desk? Do consider getting an ergonomic chair or a lumbar support. This will ensure that the natural curve of the spine is maintained.

  3. What is the best way to sleep? In our opinion, side sleepers and sleeping facing up is considered to be okay. However, never ever sleep on your stomach as this forced your neck to be in an awkward position throughout the night.

  4. Try not to cross your legs too often as this lifts the pelvic higher than the other side. For men, do consider putting your wallet at the side pocket instead of the back pocket.

Toxins

  1. Try to consume more non-GMO (genetically modified organisms) food. The process of creating these products will harm the homeostasis in our body.

  2. Consider getting an air purifier in your work place or home. The air pollution is getting worse day by day and inhaling in on the long term can cause many health problems.

  3. Consume more colorful and natural food. Green, red, yellow, purple, orange. The benefits these food bring to you are really good.

  4. Cut down on sugar. White sugar, white rice, white breads, are the main reason of the increase in your blood sugar level. A higher blood sugar level simply means that the inflammation in the body is indefinitely higher.

  5. Lesser junk food. This goes without saying that the chemicals in creating these products are really harmful.

Thoughts

  1. Try to get a hobby that will help you rewind and recharge. It can be reading, exercising, listening to podcast, and etc. Do allocate your time properly so that you are able to do these activities no matter how busy you are. Have some me-time

  2. Meditate. One of the best activities that you can perform. This will help you regulate your breathing patterns and in return, lowering blood pressure and stress levels.

  3. Get a journal. Sometimes, writing your thoughts and problems down can help you deal with your problems better

  4. Talk to someone. Talk to your friends and family member. Letting out your frustration is better compared to keeping everything to yourself

Needless to say, the effects from all these will lead to subluxations in the spine which will eventually affect your entire health. One common thing that we can get from these are, getting an adjustment from a certified chiropractor can help with your subluxations. However, to achieve optimum health, our advise would be, getting adjusted on a monthly basis, get your health checked annually by a Medical Doctor, and most importantly, change your bad habits and lifestyles.

Change does not happen overnight as the famous saying goes, Rome is not built in a day, and this goes without saying regarding our health. We hope that this post has inspired you to lead a healthier life but rest assure, we are more than happy to assist you on your way to optimum health. If you do have any doubts, feel free to speak to any of our Chiropractors here and they will be more than happy to help you. Are you ready to begin your journey to a more healthy and meaningful life?
